CAREER OVERVIEW
Justin Ovson is Managing Director of Claims and Forensics for Blueprint Construction Counsel based out of Austin, TX. Mr. Ovson’s expertise is primarily Loss of Productivity analysis, Delay Impact assessment, Project Forensics, Quantum damages, and Construction Contracts. He focuses on providing project participants involved in the construction and design of public and private projects throughout the United States with a wide variety of transactional, consulting, and dispute-related services. He has served as lead analyst on multiple legal teams to publish expert reports and represent clients in connection with a range of projects that span all sectors of the construction industry including, without limitation, power plants, petrochemical facilities, data centers, manufacturing, commercial developments, high-end residential, and infrastructure projects.
Mr. Ovson has almost two decades of leadership, management, commercial, and technical experience in global Construction, Engineering, Project Management, Operations, and Manufacturing organizations. He has worked on and supported over $50B in construction project work including capital greenfield, brownfield revamp, turnarounds, and facility maintenance. Mr. Ovson has a unique perspective having worked as an employee on both sides of the negotiation table. Prior to his construction claims work, Mr. Ovson was a project management professional for ExxonMobil’s international growth ventures group, a Project Director at PCL Construction, a Senior Project Manager for DPR Construction, and Project Execution and Facilities Engineering Lead at Occidental Petroleum. He has a career of in the field construction experience with increasing responsibility in every major role, function, and department within a project organization.
Mr. Ovson works with clients on drafting and reviewing construction contracts, design-build agreements, subcontracts, and related project agreements. He provides training to clients in the areas of risk and change management, contract compliance, and dispute avoidance and resolution. Mr. Ovson frequently works with clients and their project teams on location, providing project support and services to assist with identifying and resolving emerging problems, reducing commercial and legal risk, and minimizing project impacts to avoid formal dispute proceedings.
Mr. Ovson has experience in formal dispute proceedings, having served as an analyst and expert witness for clients in litigation, arbitration, and mediation proceedings related to numerous complex construction, engineering, and design disputes throughout North America and abroad. Within the past four years alone, Mr. Ovson has served clients in connection with disputes on construction projects in Alberta, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. As an experienced project professional and claims consultant, Mr. Ovson’s detailed and disciplined approach to dispute resolution and problem solving is focused on delivering the most efficient and effective outcome to satisfy the bottom line needs of clients.
