CAREER OVERVIEW

Tom’s practice focuses on construction and design claim resolution on public and private projects throughout the United States. Mr. Hall also works with clients on the drafting and negotiation of construction contracts, design-build agreements, subcontracts, and related project agreements. In addition, Mr. Hall advises clients on insurance and bonding matters, and on compliance with applicable government regulations. Mr. Hall’s practice has included the litigation, arbitration, and mediation of numerous large construction and design disputes throughout the United States.

Mr. Hall also regularly works directly with clients at their project sites to help identify and resolve emerging problems quickly, to ensure contract compliance, to minimize project impacts, and to avoid the potential of future litigation. In addition, Mr. Hall provides training to construction clients in risk management, contract compliance, and dispute avoidance and resolution.

Prior to starting the firm, Mr. Hall practiced with the law firms of Peckar & Abramson and Griffin, Cochrane & Marshall (which merged with Sutherland in 2006). Mr. Hall left his successful construction litigation practice to serve for six years as lead U.S. internal legal counsel for one of the largest general contractors operating in the United States. As both an experienced litigator and as the former internal counsel to one of North America’s largest construction firms, Mr. Hall’s pragmatic approach to dispute resolution and problem solving is focused on identifying and satisfying the bottom line needs of construction clients and achieving the early resolution of disputed matters in the most efficient and cost-effective manner available.

Mr. Hall is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law and is a frequent speaker on topics related to the design and construction industry.
